Classic game music, sounds, spinoffs
on:

Fixing up broken links, came across this (megamix of Super Xevious by
Harry Hosono of the Yellow Magic Orchestra). Out-of-game sounds
(drum machines and synths) are all or almost all Yamaha.
Wow, talk about an artifact making one feel old
! Still like the sounds.

Site is a bit, er, posey, suppose it goes with the territory since it's based in New Yawk, but has a lot of good downloads. Not game music but game-inspired music, bits are tracker based, but most are finished on a PC or Mac.

Flip-side of Super Xevious (with short version of SX), Hosono does Gaplus, one of Namco's several Galaxian spin-offs.

Ultimate early computer games tribute song
This is this.
They seem to have no-embedding (youtube markup doesn't work),
but strongly recommend a look.

Well before Kraftwerk or the Yellow Magic Orchestra,
named for a middling (at best) Ultravox song, Misex from Kiwiland
did it better than anybody. The background graphics (seriously
classic games!!!! even vector graphics), poncing about in a wonderful
mainframe, close to godhead!

I have several of their albums and somehow that track had passed my by. Excellent.
That's how a song about computer games should be done. Take note Buckman and Garcia lol

Not a bad outfit from the bits I've heard, thought they might have omitted Computer Games from later releases as too frivolous or otherwise bad for their rock reputation, but checked the discog. and doesn't seem so. BTW the singer Steve Gilpin is RIP. Who r Buckman and Garcia?

Haven't heard that one before, just checked it and lasted 15 seconds. Even worse than the godawful Space Invaders song.

When reading the caption, you have to read it in that horrid voice from ads for Fox Pictures until recent years, you know the one, gravelly, deep and ludicrous, can't remember the name but can imitate it!
