Great interview.
...it also shows that you can sound normal....well, either that or it's been edited. ;)
I agree with you completely on Astro nell. It's a pretty amazing piece of work. Hard as hell though.
...oh, and that Omrega Space or whatever it's called is not the worst either. ;)

Great interview! I really enjoyed reading that. I love the picture too! Brilliant I say. So we have both Flash and Sok as hombrew hero's and a few remakes of the month to boot. All in my favourite mag..
Looking forward to seeing it in print. I'm gonna upload this and link it to the MMLL download page.

Hurrah!
Do I win a prize a128? :)
What would you like to win?
-
I would like to win a Teleportation Device so I can pop and see Lobo and build a Snowman!
Perhaps not LOL

The was a modification from the original interview,
"The DS processor is fairly similar (code-wise) to the C64's 6510, so this seemed a good machine to play with. "
in the 'Backroom coder' section. The (code-wise) bit was removed, making me look a bit stupid as the two processors are quite different, but things learnt from the 6510 are applicable on the ARM 'code-wise'.
it is like this now,
The DS processor is fairly similar to the C64's 6510, so this seemed a good machine to play with. "
not quite what I had implied, oh well!
-
Now I really need to get a physical copy of that issue! Every time my wife tells me that I can't smoke in the house or be naked in front of the computer, I'll just show the mag and problem solved.
Lol and behold at editing though, weirder things have happened before, my favorite being Sokurah called something in the line of 'insert name here' . :)
-
I loved the Sokurah thing, you can picture him writing it... "Ok, nearly done.. Er.. What was his name again? Sokkuhir, SokkyUhura? Oh, Ill fill that in later, it's not like I will ever forget!"
It is a shame they cropped my picture, I had my dressing gown open and was balancing my testicles on my knees.
-
:)
And what about that voodoo doll or Dolly Parton doll or what was you caressing, forgot?
Ah, editing, editing, be the death of me laughing.
-
I was about to comment on something you said about the dude who nobody can remember whose name is, but then you mentioned your testicles and I got all confused. :)
-
I Said Obama,
And stop keep thinking about my testicles, I'm off to bed in a mo - how can I sleep knowing my nuts are on your mind?
LOL
-
LOL.
-
You're NUTS! :)
-
[...] The (code-wise) bit was removed, making me look a bit stupid as the two processors are quite different, but things learnt from the 6510 are applicable on the ARM 'code-wise'.
Oh, so I see now. I was wondering, in fact. Of course I have no experience of 6510 coding, even if I read about it some years ago, but I didn't find it so closely resemble the ARM9. Of course they're both processors, if that's the point ;)
-
The way you code in ARM and 6510 is very similar... If you can code 6510, ARM is a brezze! That is how it was originally meant to come across!
X86 took me a week or two, ARM took an afternoon! That shows how close the mnomics and code is between them.

Nice scans.
Well done all for getting Remake of the Month with MMLL. Well deserved too I might add.
I've just ordered a copy of the mag online :)
-
Glad you managed to get GameEx in there ;)
Did I ever tell you one of my C64 demos was featured in Zzapp!?
Congrats Flash (Michael) and Ben.
Cheers.

How could I not give GameEx a mention (http://www.gameex.net/ (http://www.gameex.net/))
Oops! Done it again!
-
I really never liked that way GameEx nag was done, that could been much better, which did spoil abit for me (just personally meant, no other). Since I now created my own FE, based on MultiJuke, I of course use that (but sadly have not played on arcade in long time etc, but I awesome I went back soner and later). It have not been updated (due projects here as one reason), but I have not got any bug report, so it works as it should and features wanted (abit mightbeen the database one for other emulators) and no more.
It would been fun to do a FE that can run on all systems (Linux, Windwos and Mac) and do that Open Source, but I think its not time to do that now. I rather to do some arcade jukebox thing as well. But nothing planned.
I do very happy I got joined into these projects, which was started by a PM at arcadecontrols.com and is now part of this group.
Its was really fun to do music for this MM game, and was very long time last time I did mod music (which also was in XM too). It was a fun project and found many fun bugs :-D. One of the most fun was that one you could start a level that diddent exusts and then crashed.
I gonna think we should also write abit about the next game what we are doing now (howover its still secret, so I dont tell it before others due) and to which platform it suited for (which I guess most do know)?
-
I do agree mate on the 'latest project' front, at the moment, the main forum must look a bit dull as there is now posting on any new developments.
I will have a word with HK and see if it is worthy of a few screens and perhaps the DS 'early' builds (headroll, headrush) just for fun (and to illustrate my first C based game code LOL)...
Regarding GameEx, it is by far the best FE, in fact, it is so evolved that FE is not the best way to describe it. It has SO many features that you would wonder how you did without them. One that I really love is that when you select a game (any system) you can not only get all the details and description of the game, you can also see what other systems it was released on and flip to that version and play that. Also, you can then look at all games released in that year, or by that developer, etc. You can spend hours discovering games in your collection that you never knew about just by cross-indexing within the FE.
The splash screen is valid IMHO, if you dont like it, you buy it! Tom spends hours working on it and it is so good that most people will purchase it and enjoy all the extra (inexhaustive) features that registration gives.
-
Its was a bit to much, and I like to do things simple..... As I said, its just a personal meant (people want different features than others) and I did got a free license for testing (due to get the Arcade Music Box running from that, which did have some troubles I remember, which was designed to been runned from any fe's). Still thanks for that, TSpiers.
Now I use my own software :-D of course (which can work together with a another FE, example using it as jukebox only). The best feature I included in my FE is the search feature, which search in all Libs, both music (MultiFE was just extended from MultiJuke) and games. I do think I should add a do a search on the selected game..... which would been a nice feature.
Anyway, The DS example gamecode for game could been neat to see that, which don't show so much in the lastest builds, but still very fun.
By now I do just orded the whole magasin and I did not forget I go my own little game here as well.
-
Also it would been neat if I could use headKazeø's game database (which was a excellent idea) for MultiFE. I do guess I might have trouble to fit it in, due it use access database (or such thing), where I prefer comma separated database which should not relay 100% on Windows at all and easy to do.
So the best would been simply just do a software to do a file renaming project, using some sort of format (like title - company - year) or such would also been cool. This would been detected by MultiFE directly (but not 100% sure how it was used, but I can change the code, so it support that too). I did some automatic check how to detect GoodTools and much better Tosec scheme automatic (which is really all I would need: a title, company and year). Just been sad its long time ago Tosec was updated last.
On that way all fe's can been used. The database addition is still exclusive for GameEx (developher, gameplay details, tips, etc), but basic use would been cool to been used by other fe (by detection filenames).
Godnight from here.

Finally! After like three checks, 28 forms to fill and a whoknowswhatthehellnot.. I was able to order this issue! Woooo! It said at the end that I'll receive it when.. Er, I receive it? :)
Damn, one would think that paying $18 for a mag would have prince Charles delivering it to my doorstep or at least one of his mangy kids, sheeesh.
Anyhoo, can't wait to grab it regardless.
-
LOL
Well the latest issue I've just got is Load 70 so that goes to show how far behind we are. Also my local newsagent seem to forget to hold me a copy even though I ask them to. BTW issue 70 has a 2 page article about "Gribbly's Day Out". Does anyone remember that game? That would make a cool remake IMHO.
-
Finally! Hahrharharhahrahr! Gonna read tonight hopefully, with a sixpack or so! :)
-
Who the hell is that ugly, fat, tit?
Well... Whatever floats ya boat!
;D
-
Did anyone say tits? :P
-
Tits and SixPack and I'll get in your pants, baby! :)
-
I got the issue too now, while I was on the holiday trip. It could been fun to port seesaw circus to IPhone.... which might modificered to only use one clown and a trampaline or such, but see what it happens.
