Time to build a new PC!
on:
November 20, 2009, 02:45:37 pm
As some of you know, my home pc went to heaven a few weeks before the completion of MMLL. The last 4 weeks of MMLL were completed on a MacBookPro (only a diddy 13").
Now that I am learning C coding, I thought it was time to start buiding a new pc.. I have an SLI Graphics setup and also 8 1tb HD's - so I did not bother to buy more.
Using Overclockers as I always found their service very good!

Hopefully I will have time to build it tomorrow night?
When I do, I will post pics... Not because it is anything special, but... because I love to post pics!

I also have some problems with my own PC, but it seen it was somewhere ram failure, and dont want to build a new one as long this one works fine, even its not the neweset components I have (but it still works as it should and wont upgrade as long it works fine and can play games). Its somewhere more powerfull than my normal PC
. Here, it was after the music completion, and now just installed FL-Studio 9 :-D.
Hope you enjoy your new PC. You could not add a external screen to you MAC?

Nah mate! you dinna wanna get one of them, what you wanted was a....err, something else for $300 total, runs Win7, flat 21in and about 2G RAM, maybe.
No, really nice (Gregory) pecks in there but boy, a 1000 big ones for it??? Around here that would be (lemme pull out the handy converter) around $1,650.65. Pheeew...that's a lot of beer man.
My current machine is kinda half of that, I really only need more RAM and else is fine.

You mean I have spent money that would also work if used for the purchase of beer?
Bugger - I will cancel my order (I did not know - god help me!)

Holy! You'll get a heart attack from that combo!
And yes, I was thinking of carving out the smile on this poor guy, something like in that movie 'The Man who Laughs' but it didn't work.

There is something missing in the happiness stakes? Hmm..
Perhaps for faces that need 'mouths' a ghost/phone/cloud/parkie/etc woud do?

I was refering to the Horace characters silly billy!
It is just that some of the current ones are a bit tricky to see what they are meant to be (or it could be me?)

Well,
I built my PC and it works (that is always a good sign).
One thing that is nice. The processor runs at 2.66 ghz but... even with air cooling using the heatsink mentioned it the first post, it has comfortably and stably overclocked to 4ghz (using fsb of 200 - originally 133). The mem have overclocked quite nicely also, and at these speeds voltage ramping has not been needed. Core temperature is still well within limits also.
So, D0 Stepping on the i7 is a wonderfull thing.
